Accountants in the pink for charity

Staff at Halifax accountancy firm Lambert Roper & Horsfield wore pink on Friday (October 30) to raise vital cash for the Breast Cancer Campaign’s ‘Wear it Pink’ day.

Staff wearing an item of pink clothing paid a donation of £1, but those who refused to wear something in a rosy hue had to fork out £2. There was also a buffet lunch in the office, and the total money raised reached £100.

The event coincided with the news that staff member Lucy Moyers’ mother had been diagnosed with the disease.

Lucy said: “Last week my mum was diagnosed with breast cancer and is undergoing the first stage of her treatment this week, so I’d like to say thank you to everyone and your money really will make a difference.

“Breast cancer is a very real and common form of cancer. One in nine women will be diagnosed with it at some point in our lives – that’s potentially three ladies in this office alone.

“Nothing will stop us getting Breast Cancer but if we are aware of the risk and can catch it early we give ourselves the best possible chance.

“We do seem to have a lot of events at LRH for different causes, and I think we deserve a big pat on the back!”
